As I mentioned, this is part of a series, but it can be read as a standalone. That said, I'd still recommend reading from the beginning because once you've met any of these characters, you're gonna want to know more about them. Regardless of trope or even reading order, this whole series is just one more reason I can't get enough of Melanie Moreland and her characters that are like old friends I can visit from time to time.
What can make an already five star read even better? Stellar narration, which we always get from John Lane and Maxine Mitchell. From the mutual, while secret, attraction to the vulnerability of these characters to steamy goodness, it all comes through in the performance by Lane and Mitchell.
Whether you read the book or listen to it (or both), you can't go wrong with Under the Radar.

This is why he now works for Maxx and Charley, they have forgiven him for what he did and brought him in to be part of their life, not just a work colleague.
Hannah is a police officer having transferred from Toronto due to a past incident and wanting a quieter small town life. After their first meeting, they both knew there was more in there, just waiting for opportunity to knock, which it does in the form of a new housemate for Chase!
Chase falls fast for Hannah, he doesn't want her out of his life, wants desperately to be more than just a friend, but is not sure about himself and everything he has done in his past with her being in the police.
Hannah has nightmares from her past incident, and Chase is always there to help to soothe her without overstepping the friend boundary. They decorate the house together and grow close, especially with all the friends of his helping out. But not everyone is happy with the new life they have together and start to set about ways of breaking them up.....
Another good read from Melanie - you just know that these two were meant for each other and they just had to work things out. I loved Dom in this, an older bad boy - he knew what he wanted and Hannah's mum didn't stand a chance with his dirty talking, rough around the edges ways - these two made me laugh! A good addition to the Reynolds Restorations world.

For Chase it was an instant fascination with the pretty police officer and her freckles. His Occifer Cinnamon was so understanding of his pain and not the fact he was drunk. He didn’t pursue her because he has a record even though wanted what his friends had found with their women. He now needs a new roommate and thought it would be easy but that wasn’t the case, however, just as he was about to give up, the woman of his dreams appears!
Hannah was taken by the endearing and cute mechanic with the sad eyes. She knew something had sparked between them and was disappointed he never ask her out. When she saw his advert for a roommate she was excited but did wonder if it was a good idea to move in with her secret crush.
She moves in and they have a lot of fun getting her settled in. They aren’t great with their communication and Chase worries she doesn’t like him the same way he likes her. They are both scared to be honest and divulge their pasts but when they do open up to each other their relationship develops quickly. It’s fast and intense as it means something special to both of them. For Chase, he has at last a real home and Hannah feels safe, loved and cared for.
It is sweet as Chase absolutely adores her and luckily she doesn’t see him as criminal but a good guy who is protective, caring, sexy and funny. I liked how Hannah only cares about him and who he is now, not his past or the mistakes that landed him in jail because he’s a changed man. Hannah is so friendly with everyone but her warm personality has consequences they don’t see coming. Throughout the drama Chase shows admirable strength and composure in the face of adversity. He refuses to let anything destroy what they have built and will never let her go. His reaction to all the events showed what a loyal friend he was and how he is willing to put everything on the line for the people he loves.
It was great seeing everyone again and I love how Charly has forgiven Chase and become not only a friend, but a sister and mother to him. She always helps him and tries to get him to let go of the past. Hannah’s mum Cherry is fun and I laughed so much when she sets things alight with Dom. As usual Melanie gives us a fantastic epilogue and a perfect ending for this couple. I was so pleased that Chase has his nearest and dearest supporting him in the future he deserves. There are a couple of fun twists, one will make you smile and one will make his life easier and totally put the past behind him. A delightful addition to this series.

This year so far has had so many fantastic cinnamon roll heroes. Chase Donner is no exception. And definitely is my new favorite reformed troubled young man.
The story was engaging on so many levels right from the beginning. I loved the story for bringing a real world issue front and center in a very subtle manner, well actually two. The No means No movement. And the very real problems we have with our police presence, especially in Minnesota.
These to things led to unwanted drama, Hannah did not want or need.

Then of course we are back in Maxx's Garage with Charly and the crew and I loved visiting with them all again. I absolutely adore this series.
I have voluntarily left this review.

I have been a fan day one of the entire series. While Maxx and Charly are a forever comfort read, these two have joined their ranks. I love that Melanie Moreland wrote in scenes featuring this beloved found family so we don't miss them. But the former couples don't overpower the scenes but enhance them. Well, our feisty red-head is our new RVR in the Reynolds Restoration series. Charly calls it like she sees it and gives Chase sage advice.

Redeemable heroes are a catnip trope. But often authors redeem them in their story. Chase was forgiven in book 1 and grew through books 2-3. Fans of the series have the chance to watch the transformation and recognize he now deserves his other half. She comes in a strong cinnamon sprinkled police officer, Hannah. Who just happens to be crushing on her new landlord just as hard. OH YES MY HEART.
Both main characters bring heartbreak and growth to their scenes. Melanie Moreland has written character development that shows you don't have to wallow in what was but learn to embrace what can be.
And the damn epilogue. Once again perfection and why I call her the queen of happily ever after epilogues.
I highly recommend this story. You cannot go wrong. The storytelling allows for standalone but you want to get the entire series under your belt to be just in love with the Littleburn town and families.
NOW - BRING on Dom and Cherry because that story is gonna be FLAMING HOT!
