Niall picks up right before the ending of Finn and right away you will not be able to not root for Anna & Niall. Their connection was palpable and that is all on Melanie’s word wizardry. She crafted scene after scene between these two that built their connection. She made it seem like they’d been in each other’s orbits forever. I was very impressed because it was authentic. I felt it. I felt all of it.
There’s the usual plot-points and whatnot but what really impressed me with this story is what I’ve mentioned above. I said this before, if you’re not new to this genre, you’ve read some variation of this storyline at some point, and that is perfectly acceptable because it’s how the author conveys these same storylines that set them apart and Melanie Moreland knows how to set herself apart! #trust
🎧 Narration by 🎙️John Lane & Maxine Mitchell🎙️ was, as always, on-point. They’re a great team and they’ve proven that time and time again. They are both excellent narrators that I’ve had the pleasure to listen to countless times and of course, it’s always nice to know that when I pick up a Melanie audiobook, I’m gonna get an excellent performance (because she uses them all the time lol).

Niall cannot understand his more than physical reaction to Anna and is in complete denial of his feelings. He thinks his past and his choices mean he is not destined for any kind of a deep or long lasting relationship.
This story is low on angst but packed with danger, suspense and ALL THE SWOON!!
It could be read as a standalone. (but really Finn is Not To Be Missed)
After I read this on ebook, I listened to the audiobook and loved the story eve...

Niall is Finn’s right hand man, best friend and cousin. He enjoys working for the syndicate and helping run the casino. He was pleased their rescue mission for Una had been successful, however, he never expected his reaction to the beautiful but tiny fragile woman he ended up rescuing. His protective side had kicked in straight away and he just knew he’d do anything to keep her safe. All he wanted to do is hold her until she was warm and not afraid any more. The women had kept each other alive through their horrific experience but one of their captors had been obsessed with Anna and had brutally treated her.
Niall is confused by his emotions, why did he care so much for her? Although she’s frightened and anxious, he is shocked by the trust she has in him. He looks after and cares for her but she’s scared when he’s not near and he also finds it increasingly hard to not be with her. Finn does a great job at teasing and winding Niall up over her because he knows Niall is falling for Anna. Then Roman joins in making Niall very possessive and demands she stay with him.
He can’t believe he opens up to her and tells her stuff about his past and how he loves his job. She had a isolated and sad childhood and moving to Toronto was her new start but they took her. He finds her sweet, funny and smart but realises she’s very innocent. Their relationship develops and he makes her feel safe enough to work at the hotel with Una. She tells him some of what happened and how Una gave her the strength to keep enduring everything. They became friends and Una had told her all about the Irishmen.
I loved it when he gave in and she got her first proper kiss. He’s not a relationship kind of guy and denies his feelings for her. He’s never experienced anything like this before. He tries to explain that he’s not a good guy, not her hero and how his world is dangerous. He thinks he can’t be what she deserves as broken and can’t connect with people or love. She feels the connection and chemistry between them and confronts him as her choice and she chooses him. Will he give her what she wants or continue to resist her. She and Una work well together but an incident means she taken again. This part was very predictable and it was a case of when it would happen but maybe it was what was needed to make Niall realise What she means to him.
The author gives us a great epilogue as usual with hilarious wedding celebrations for Finn and Una in Ireland and a very romantic Niall. Then to bring this duet to a wonderful finish, we hear from Finn, five years later, with all the news on how everyone is and what they are doing. The dreams fulfilled, the next generation and the safer future they have procured for themselves.

The appeal of Niall is that bad boy, not made for relationships crashing on the first sight of the heroine. That connect - soulmate it screams - he can fight it but fate will win.
Anna is a victim of a traumatic experience in book one (Yes, I insist you read these as intended). She is healing but has a soft spine-she embraces her femininity but has steel when called upon.
Once again this storyt...

Once again this storyteller has made 'darker' 'mafia romance' accessible. With stellar storytelling, plot that moves, and characters who win your heart, this duet is one for the bookshelves, and on my re-read list.
Audiobook review:
What can I say about the dynamic duo of John Lane and Maxine Mitchell. They deliver the best performances. Make the reader feel part of the scene and can hear the richness of the characters Irish background.

As Anna and Una begin to work through their trauma, regain some of their independence and still stay safe, can they also stay vigilant with our shutting down with every new person they meet?
Of course let's not forget their protectors especially Niall, we knew Finn wouldn't let Una out of his sight but his best is proving to be even more protective than he is. But will it be enough?
Well this is where things get really fun, feelings...

Well this is where things get really fun, feelings are shifting, new players are emerging, some of them are definitely making me uncomfortable.
This is the part of the story I can't wait to get to, and see how Mrs. Moreland ends our journey. Will it be two extremes or some stealth and a secret get away?
I mean I know, and I'm not telling you, so no spoilers but they just keep getting better.
I'm sad Niall is the end but have really enjoyed The Irishmen.
I have voluntarily left this review.
