Behind the book

Author’s notes may contain spoilers!

Back in A Catastrophic Theft, Sarah warned Reg about the granting of wishes:

“But fairy magic is unpredictable. It rarely gives you something without taking something away. Haven’t you ever read the traditional fairy tales? Wishes are always granted in the worst possible way, leaving the wisher in a worse position than they were in to begin with.”

But Reg wasn’t thinking about that when she made a wish in The Telepathy of Gardens at Harrison’s suggestion. Fir warns her:

“Be careful of thy wishes. You never know which ones will be granted.”

But it seems that Reg’s wish is granted, when at the end of Fairy Blade Unmade, she is rewarded with gemstones after saving Calliopia’s life.

And that’s a good thing, right?

Reg finally wouldn’t have to worry about money anymore.
