Synopsis

If y’all love holidays, small towns, undying relationships, southern food, animals, and a smidgen of homicide, THIS cozy mystery series is for you.

CELEBRATE GOOD CRIMES

It’s spooky season in Holiday Junction and Halloweenie Festival is a hauntingly great time.

Holiday Junction really knows how to throw holiday festivals, and it goes all out for Halloween.

The weeklong celebration includes a ghost walk of haunting tales, a hay ride, carnival games, pumpkin carvings and costume party.

Violet Rhinehammer has the perfect assignment—represent the Junction Journal by attending all the fun festive activities and reporting on them.

When Violet reluctantly goes on the ghost walk, she realizes the body that fell out of the fake casket is a real one and not a prop. She knows trouble is brewing. She puts on a sleuthing costume after someone she loves becomes Chief Strickland’s number one suspect in order to catch the real monster.

I was thrilled to see another book in the Holiday Cozy Mystery series and Halloween is the perfect time for murder and mayhem! I thought I would miss Violet when left Normal, KY but I like that she is the star of her own series. It is interesting to see her develop from the annoying reporter shoving a microphone in Mae’s face to learning how to be on her own solving mysteries and as a reporter/editor for the local Junction Journal. Violet landed in the right town as Holiday Junction sounds like a fun place to live.

Even though Violet is not a fan of Halloween, she knew the celebrations had to be covered in the paper and I laughed out loud when she conned Hershal into taking her on the Ghost Walk during the day. Of course, it could not be a simple ghost tour because when Violet’s mama, Millie Kay, and Darren decide to tag along, the fun begins!

While the murder mystery is the main story in this book, I am enjoying watching Violet’s relationships develop with not only the people of Holiday Junction but also her mama when they move into the new home and cottage. Both the characters and the scenery are described in detail and the reader can imagine being right in the town with Violet. When reading these books, I feel that I am transported to another place, and it is nice to leave the real world behind for a few hours.

It is fun getting to know the residents of Holiday Junction and I hope there will be a book for every holiday!

Violet Rhinehammer is not a fan of Halloween. She has to somehow put her feelings aside and write an article for the Junction Journal about the Halloween activities that are happening around town. When Violet stumbles over another dead body the townspeople believe she has awakened an evil spirit. Violet doesn’t believe it’s paranormal so she is determined to solve the murder.

This is a great cozy mystery to read, especially during the spooky season. The characters are fun and relatable. Violet momma is one of my favorite characters. She is full of personality and is a true southern momma. The setting of Holiday Junction is as much of a character as the people and fur babies. The town goes all out for every holiday. I recommend this to everyone who enjoys cozy mysteries and holiday themed cozies.

All thoughts and opinions are my own, and I have not been by anyone.

I love a good visit to Holiday Junction, where every holiday is worth celebrating. Sadly, Violet is not a big fan of Halloween, so an entire month of Halloween is not high on her list. She’s going to put on a brave face as the editor of the Junction Journal and because she has a secret job in town for every holiday. Her first holiday story will be about the Haunted Ghost walk, which also gives her the opportunity to hear some good old town gossip that might turn into a real story. The ghost walk turns out to be scarier than expected with a headless horseman riding by, but the real scare comes at the final stop with bloody body in a coffin, a real one! This wasn’t part of the ghost walk. Seems somebody has replaced the dummy body with a real one and the victim is Peter Hill, Turns out Peter Hill is up for re-election and had recently revoked a vendor license for not complying with the Holiday Junction Planning Committee rules. Violet knows this is a good place to start for solving this one, much to Chief Strickland’s dismay! Is this related to the vendor? What about the headless horseman? The deceased had plenty of enemies to choose from! Violet is on the case with her Momma and Darren! She has lots of suspects and clues to weed through to solve this one! It’s great to see the characters developing with every story in this series. Violet used to be someone you didn’t necessarily root for and now you can’t help but cheer her on! I am not required to leave a review.
