‘The woman was the walking, talking epitome of trouble.’

I’m usually all in for any Juno Rushdan Intrigue yet this one, I wasn’t feeling it. It started off with a bang with the FMC and the UNSUB facing off and I was hooked but then the MMC was introduced and everything kind of skidded to a stop. While individually they were interesting characters I just didn’t get the chemistry that is normally so prevalent in one of this author’s books so their relationship felt forced and unnecessary to the overall storyline, which was well done. So pros and cons for me. Still four stars.
“There is only one plot - things are not what they seem.”

This author has a gift. She created something completely magical within the pages of this book, taking us on a journey where we fell in love with this woman and her new life, only to...completely turn our world upside down a little over halfway through and start the journey all over again. Amazing!
“Except for the murders and fear of bankruptcy, I’ve never been happier.”

This book features a unique premise with promising characters that I can’t wait to see develop! Very entertaining and full of laughs!
The Decoy
“We found a connection”

We’re back with the second book in the Kyra and Jake investigation series and The Player is back, or is he? Matt’s dead but the killings don’t stop. As we’re dragged deeper and deeper into Kyra’s past, Jake and Kyra’s feelings ger deeper as well in this intriguing serial that excels at keeping us guessing until the very last chapter.
“If fairy tales are real, I’m going to be pissed.”

I found this book highly enjoyable even though at times the leading lady was a little too ‘girl power’ for me personally. That didn’t detract from the well crafted story that unfolded that had me on the edge of my seat until I turned the last page thankful I already have book 2 in my tbr pile considering how it ended!
“I’ll make you a happy drink.”

Opening a Sherry Harris book is like taking a vacation with your favorite best friends and this one was no different. Off to the Florida panhandle for a little beach time (with a side of murder) along with Chloe and her found family and in this case, her entertaining brothers! A must read series for an cozy lover.
“That was the past.”

How would you survive if you woke up each day with no memories of the past several months? That’s what Quinn faces daily after suffering a traumatic brain injury. And if that wasn’t bad enough she witnesses a murder, only to watch all evidence of that drive away when the murderer takes the body with him. The police don’t believe her. She doesn’t even believe it herself. Then she becomes the target. With the help of one determined police detective, a counselor who experienced a TBI himself and her handy dandy notebook of memories what follows is an extraordinarily suspenseful tale that gets more engrossing the further you get into it.
“Something poisonous is going on.”

I’ve been a fan of this series from the beginning and my lukewarm response to this one surprised me. Maybe my brain is on summer vacation...but this time around it seemed like there were so many characters to keep track of and our four sleuths kept talking in circles until out of no where, bam, the case was wrapped up and we got answers for all of the mysteries spun in this tale even if our main characters didn’t. Still, a solid outing.
“Goodie. We were going to talk murder.”

If Shakespeare had been this entertaining when I was in high school I would have actually paid attention in class! The famed lovers lived happily ever after and spawned a whole litter of children including our leading lady, their eldest daughter, fading away at almost twenty and still a virgin! Rosie is everything her parents didn’t expect: smart, independent, a fighter who is completely poetry illiterate. She doesn’t believe in love at first sight until it happens to her...on the heels of her FIFTH engagement! Fearing her luck at regifting her fiancés is running out the last thing she expects if for this one to end with her betrothed dead and her the prime suspect in his murder! With the help of Nurse and the Fair Prince of Verona she’s got to solve the case before she joins the line of fair maidens in a tomb. Full of laughs, hijinks and madcap humor this is has got to hottest read of the summer!
Wyoming Mountain Investigation
“Going to be a long ride to Bison Ridge with Mr. Grumpy Pants.”

This book felt like going home. We’re back with a Powell in the Cowboy State dealing with a serial arsonist with roots planted firmly in Sawyer’s past. Haunted by the one that got away, Sawyer is looking for a second chance when his high school girlfriend is the FBI agent sent to town to help. Their journey is compelling, the case fiery and the pay off, perfect.
“He would go on.”

On the heels of shutting down the H.H. Holmes Society Luke and Carly are thrust back into another, even worse, serial nightmare. Someone, or someones, are killing people and harvesting their organs. With the help of one determined, but long dead Scotsman, and a team of Scotland police, we’re treated with a page turning adventure highlighting what this author does best! Bravo.
“This is even more fun than I thought it would be.”

This is the story of a small group of con artists with the best of intentions. Think the television show Leverage. When their mentor is kidnapped and the team is forced to reunite things aren’t all they seem and everyone has their own agendas. For Ruby it’s to save Max while not losing the legitimacy she’d finally achieved. And for Shane, not losing Ruby again. I couldn’t put this down any more than I was able to do so with this author’s first romantic suspense book for Harlequin. Rachel has flown to the top of my automatic buy list!
