‘But it wasn’t Nebraska.’
We’re seven books into the Tourist Trap series and as always, a visit to South Cove is like going home to an amazing family! Unlike in many series time is passing by and our characters are changing; some are moving away, some have passed, others have married or grown before our eyes. Here’s too many more stories ahead of us!

‘eating itty -bitty food on great big plates’
Our author jumps into the already impressive world of Mariposa Resort & Spa and takes it to another level with the introduction of visitor Chef Max Powell III whose presence at the resort complicates head concierge, Alexis Reed’s, not only with their attraction to each other, but when they find themselves in the bullseye of someone intent on hurting one or both of them. Another solid installment in the Coltons of Arizona series, even if the perpetrator was predictable.

‘I’m a suspect. This might be the worst date I’ve ever had.’
What a way to start off a new series! This book had everything you could hope for: a magnificent setting, an intriguing mystery and a leading couple that scorched the pages all while setting us up for what surely has to be a stunning follow up. Wonderful!

‘I thought you’d never quit.’
Book 2 in the Holmes, Margaret (Marple) and Poe series Holmes has been missing in action for several months, doing a stint in rehab, leaving his partners to carry on day to day. When six infants are spirited away from the local hospital it’s all hands on deck, including Holmes...who is convinced he not only gave up addiction in rehab, but investigating, until an evil no one saw coming seeks him out and dares him to play the game again, leaving us hanging for book 3. All in all, a solid if not thrilling outing in what hopes to be a long lasting series.

‘you gals are rock-solid’
Four mature gal pals find themselves in hot water when the con man husband of one of them ends up squished like a pancake in a parking garage hit and run AFTER Zelda asked for help getting rid of him at game night. Despite how close they are they become each others’ and the cops number one suspects as they fumble their way through their own investigations in a highly offbeat and fun new cozy series.

I struggled with this one. Everything about it felt slightly off. Stephanie may have said yes to both Morelli and Ranger in the last book and left everyone on pins and needles for a whole year...only to come back to our formally feisty heroine thinking babies, attempting a healthy lifestyle and dare I say it, boring. Without Lulu being quintessential Lula, and a steady stream of ‘babe’ I may not have been able to finish this one. And that ending, we needed a Plum family wedding and how *no spoilers* reacted to the news.
‘I was waiting for you.’
Monty’s having a really bad few months and when the highlight of it is waking up near a dead body with this ex girlfriend is looking at him you know things must get a heck of a lot worse! Someone is targeting the whole Powell family in the most nail biting installment in this series and while I want to give it five stars, I felt Monty just needed a little more page time for me to get a sense of who he really is and what made him tick. We definitely got to know Waylon that way and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series to see what’s in store for him!

‘You’re a tempest, Ruby Vaughn.”
Ruby Vaughn vowed never to return to the small Cornwall village where her ex lover married in front of her eyes, only to be summarily dispatched to the gothic setting by her employer to make a delivery of books to the village witch. And unable to help herself she finds her way to her ex’s door, just in time to get caught up in the ‘curse’ that takes the life of the unfaithful husband. Not sure who she can trust besides Ruan, the witch, who has the uncanny habit of reading her thoughts, Ruby can only hope to get back to Exeter alive in this compelling debut novel.

‘On the surface small towns can seem simple, but they’re not.’
At first glance I was expecting a sweet cozy mystery set in the south. It checked all of the boxes: bookstore, cat, small town setting and a eclectic cast of characters. However it’s so much more than that; a touch dark with red herrings left and right that leave you (And our heroine) scratching our heads wondering exactly what else will be thrown at us before the last chapter is read. Not to mention how do you top it in book 2? Well done. I can’t wait until next year at this time to read the followup.

The epitome of a great cozy mystery! An interesting main character and supporting cast that will have you falling in love with them in an instant, a small town setting and an intriguing murder (or two) mystery with the hint of a possible paranormal twist that’s to die for!
