Avery surprised me with what she had in store for Halton based on the portrayal of this character in other books in the series. A difficult but very current challenge we can all relate to these days. Misinterpretations and assumptions can bring suffering about. Halton and Ryland had a long road to travel to set things straight. Unexpectedly sweet. 100% enjoyable! I totally recommend it.

“… my mother has an odd habit of adopting people, regardless of age. If she decides you’re family, you’re subject to our chaos for life.”

This quote says everything you need to know about the Westbrook family. They are big-hearted, rowdy, dedicated to family, and create chaos wherever they go. One Little Lie, which is Halton’s (Hatty) book, is the second book in the Westbrook series. To really understand the series and the family’s close bonds they share with each other, you need to start with the first book in the Broken Hearts series, Cross My Heart. Also, the books ar...

Also, the books are linked by family secrets and enemies that are slowly revealed through the series. There are four books in that series and once you start the first book you will be addicted to the Westbrook family.

“Our life is made up of moments in time. Some moments we capture. Some moments we royally screw up and some moments bring you right where you were always meant to be.”

This describes Hatty and Rylan’s relationship perfectly. They met as children and as they got older, they captured their moments together; Rylan with a camera and Hatty with his art. As they finish high school, complications and misunderstandings destroy their relationship. Now as adults they have a second chance together but first, they must learn to communicate and clear up all the lies and misunderstandings.
This family will touch your heart and pull you into their chaotic lives. I absolutely love the Westbrook family and their stories are unforgettable. I have read through the series several times and will certainly do so again. They keep getting better and better. I really look forward to the next book which will be Colton’s. He is the fun brother and the one always up to pranks so seeing him find his one and only should be interesting!
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Give me a word, Fabulous! I loved these two and their banter. Halton and Rylan are a great pair that play off of each other in sweet and steamy way. It is emotional but so well written. Their story helps give insight to their emotional struggle. I laughed, I cried, and laughed some more.

Plus, you still get to see everyone else in the background of their story. All my favorite characters.

This is another emotionally packed book by Avery Maxwell. She presented a real life subject that many deal with and helped others understand how crippling it can be. Hatty and Sunshine are amazing characters that have a love that just won't quit. Even when they want it to. Don't miss out on this addition to the Westbrook Series! I sure hope Blake Kingston gets a book.....I need to know what demons he's holding onto.

“The most beautiful stained glass comes from something broken,” I whisper. “I’m so sorry if I broke any piece of you, Rylan. I thought I was doing the right thing for you. For Colton. For my family. I thought it was what I had to do.”
Halton met his soulmate when he was seven years old. Ten years later he breaks her heart with one little lie. Avery continues to amaze me with her writing skills and I am always left wanting more when I get to the end of the book. I am impatiently waiting for Colton's story!
