Synopsis
Emerlee is on holiday when her boyfriend Don, back home in Canada, writes to her and tells her 'It's over'--and that he has moved in with a girl he met at a party. To her surprise, Emerlee feels as elated as she feels sad. Before her, stands the great tall castle of Bamburgh, on its basalt cliff, the seabirds shrieking as they wheel above the keep. She feels an unnatural attraction to the mighty fortress--and to the ruined St Oswald's Gate, where rolls of barbed wire keep out trespassers...both living and dead.
Compelled, she climbs through the wire, and discovers a past world in which she played a bitter part.
Short story, 1 hour read, approximately 5500 words (12-14 pages.) Sweet, clean romance--but spooky.
