Synopsis

Young Snoefrith leaves the Palace of the Erl-King to begin a Midwinter Quest. On her way, she is accosted by evil Old Nik--a goblin called Nickor--who rides in a flying sleigh bringing unsavoury toys for unwary girls and boys. He turns his servant, the Krampus, on her and she flees into the forest, where she meets a feisty young archer called Red Roo. Together with Roo, the escape across an ice-lake to the strange home of old Maragda, Queen of the Copper Mountain. She tells them they must stand and fight or be forever hunted--they must face down their enemies, Krampus and Old Nik, in the mountaintop cavern where Nickor keeps the Gnomes chained in his ghastly toy workshop.
