Synopsis

Robyn of Locksley wins 'The Hood' in an ancient Midwinter rite and sets off a chain of events he could never have expected as a young village lad. The Old Gods of earth, water and woodland awaken to greet the coming of the Greenwood King...and his reluctant bride, Lady Marian Atte Lee.
After Marian is wounded by Guy of Gisbourne while the knight lay under a witch's spell, she retreats to Kirklees Priory, leaving a grieving, embittered Robyn...but then a mysterious woman comes to the forest calling herself Clarimonde, Queen of the Shepherdesses, and the Hood Game is played again, from battling pirates on the Yorkshire coast to fighting for the rebel leader William Longbeard, all the while pursued by a Sheriff emboldened by use of a prophetic brass head.
For many years after the outlaws see the destruction of the Brazen Head, Sherwood is at relative peace, but then the French invade England, and King John makes the Greenwood King an offer he dare not refuse...and he takes his band of Merrymen to fight alongside the legendary archer, Willikin of the Weald.
