About the author

Joshua James followed an unusual path to arrive here (i.e. writing in third person about himself in an author biography). He has worked as both an accountant and a graphic artist. Before either of those pursuits, he submitted a string of short stories to Analog, Asimov's, F&SF and Interzone. He even got a couple published. But finding an agent and writing on spec dampened his enthusiasm. Still, his childhood love for Robotech and ST:TNG meant he could never truly ignore his geek side (and also meant he wrote Star Trek/Robotech crossover fan fiction--yes, that's a thing).

Lucky Universe, his first published novel, introduces us to Lance Corporal Lucky Lee Savage, a beast of a Marine running away from a bloody past and unwittingly into a fight for the survival of mankind. It has been described as a cross between Starship Troopers and Jason Bourne. Joshua lives outside Washington D.C. with his family.
