Slippers, a big hat and a sit/stand desk
BingeBooks: Where and when do you like to write?
Abby Knorr: I write at my sit/stand desk beside a window with a view of our orchard. If it's a really beautiful day, I'll write beside our pool in a big hat. I try to get my writing done after a morning walk, but before I do any other work, usually mid-morning until early afternoon.
BB: Is there anything - furnishings, art, equipment, etc - you always like to have around you when you write?
AK: My sit/stand desk, ergonomic keyboard and mouse really changed my body for the better and helped heal the TOS I ac…
"I'm a daydreamer with a big imagination"
BingeBooks: Where and when do you like to write?
Samantha Young: I write in my office and I write in the early mornings and early afternoons. My brain is usually too tired by evening time to string sentences together, lol.
BB: Is there anything - furnishings, art, equipment, etc - you always like to have around you when you write?
SY: Books! I love being surrounded by books and fairy lights as I write. It's cozy.
BB: Who are your influences? What are you reading right now? What book would you recommend for a great winter vacation read?
SY: Oh goodness, I have so many favorite authors and musicians who inspire…

Rainy weather, a comfy chair and Cuban coffee - A.R. Torre details the essential ingredients for writing characters that readers "love to hate"
Ahead of our live Book Club chat with A. R. Torre on Tuesday January 24, 2023 (watch again at our Book Club page) we asked Alessandra to tell us a bit more about herself and her writing ...
BingeBooks: Where and when do you like to write?
A. R. Torre: My favorite place to write is in our backyard. I’m pretty sure the environment isn’t the best for writing - the #1 rule of word production is No Distractions! - but we have lots of palm trees that sway in the breeze and provide a soothing soundtrack. I have a comfy chair that is in our cabana and I like to prop my feet up on a beanbag and write there, especially when the weather is nice and…
Like many people, author David Raymond was inspired as a child by “Star Wars” and “Star Trek,” and saw science fiction as an escape into unknown, fantastical worlds. For him, the genre represented something bigger than himself. He was captivated by its inherent concept of endless possibilities and discovering new things.
“It blended together the things I’m passionate about – helping people, the environment and making the world a better place,” said Raymond.
All those things intersect in his latest science fiction book, “The Mermaid of Arch Creek,” which is set in Miami’s Arch Creek Park and was released last month.
As we sat in his beautiful, sunlit home office in the Village of Biscayne Park discussing the book, Raymond spoke clearly and with passion, like a true storyteller. The T-sh…
Writing a novel in a month, whether for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) or another reason can be a daunting task—especially if you’ve never done so before. It doesn’t have to be difficult, however; with the right advice and steps, you can pull together a full-length book by November 30. The following ten tips will help you achieve success!
Do not be misled by romantic movies about blocked novelists who are inspired by a new person in their lives or by a holiday or by facing their biggest fear or regret. They pound out the next great American novel in a couple of hours during the night. To pound out a short novel of 50,000 words in eight hours, you would have to type at a sustained rate of 104 wpm, with no time for thinking about or planning the next sentence, let alone the plo…
"Three weddings and a food truck on the beach"
Ahead of our live Book Club chat with Jan Moran we asked Jan to tell us a bit more about herself and her writing ...
BingeBooks: Where and when do you like to write?
Jan Moran: Mostly afternoons and evening—and almost anywhere with my laptop. Variety keeps me fresh and inspires me, so you might find me in my garden, at the kitchen table, at a coffee shop, or in a library. My faves: Writing near the beach on in the mountains, on airplanes, and in beautiful hotel lobbies. My office is for business, not so much for creativity.
BB: Is there anything - furnishings, art, equipment, etc - you always like to have around you when you write?
JM: Interesting views and background music such as jazz, classical, or brain.fm. Or surrounded by the so…
Before their live chat for BingeBooks Book Club, on Historical Mystery Day, Thursday September 29, we asked Sara Rosett and Lee Strauss to answer some favorite author questions.
BB: Where and when do you like to write?
SR: I use dictation to get a first draft down in the morning. Once it’s transcribed I like to edit the draft in my office, which has bookshelves full of my favorite novels and all my reference books.
LS: Usually afternoons in my sunroom. I take care of business matters in the mornings. I also like to play pickleball three mornings a week, so it's nice to have a flexible schedule.
BB: Is there anything - furnishings, art, equipment, etc - you always like to have around you when you write?
SR: I like to have my divided keyboard, which keeps my wrists in alignment s…
