Consider it a primer for the adventures of Alva Albish, Valia Huntington, a few other clones and the semi-real worlds they inhabit. Make no mistake, the fate of the universe will be decided by the end of the series. In fact, the fate of multiple universes. The question is: which one is the real one? Welcome to The Curated Worlds.

My name is Zenda. I am not real. Neither is my boyfriend, Lorenzo Almanzo. But our love is. We exist in a simulated world created by many minds. Too many people have been involved in the creation of the world we know as reality. Too much input has made the world unstable. There’s one person who can change that.  One person who can make us real. Alva Albish.

The problem is Alva doesn’t know any of this. And if we tell her directly we run the risk of her decompensating which is just a fancy term for freaking out. I joke but that’s something I can’t risk. Neither can the other players involved. I suppose that’s as good a place to start as any. The other players. Ok, buckle up. Because none of this is going to make sense. Not at first. But it will in the end. The end end. The way end.

If you’re reading this out there in the real world...wait...let’s start there. Let’s define what the real world is. Let’s...agree what that term refers to. The real world is where flesh and blood people live. That’s the simplest way to delineate it. There are people who are not flesh and blood but believe they are. In fact, most of the worlds - or chronomes as they are called by dear Alva - are populated by people who believe they are flesh and blood but actually aren’t. That’s where it gets confusing. Maybe a list will help. A list of real flesh and blood people.

Alva. She’s real.

Valia, too.

And Valta. She likes to hide. But she’ll show up unexpectedly.

Ummm, who else?

Those are the big ones, ohh, Amelia. She plays a big part. That’s a joke. You’ll laugh later. I promise.

Side note: Zardon Quantril and Carmichael Sturgeon are not real. They are one and the same but they are not real. They are an artificial intelligence that wants to become real. They’re like me and Zo. That’s what I call Lorenzo, my boyfriend. Lorenzo Almanzo, L.A.ser Boy.
