Synopsis

Sydney Whitmore, a forensic psychologist, moves to Shipwreck Island and renews her relationship with Ezra Reinhold, a reclusive billionaire who enjoys poking around in cold cases and has the means to hire the best people to find the answers no one else has been able to.

In book 4 in the series, Syd has settled into her new home at the resort just in time for a good old fashion Thanksgiving but before she can leave the stress of her old life behind she must first complete one final interview relating to Conrad Baker, the serial killer whose actions sent her running to Shipwreck Island in the first place. The problem is that the interview turns into a bit of a disaster throwing the entire case built by the district attorney into doubt. Syd knows Baker is guilty in spite of the fact that the case against him seems to be crumbling so she decides to take a second look at her assumptions and ends up with a realization she never expected.

In book 5 in the series, Arden Haynsworth has been kidnapped after being sentenced to death for her part in the death of the kidnapper's daughter Daisy. Arden insists she's innocent of the crime she's been accused of and is certain she was set up to take the fall. She's been allotted five days' worth of food, water, and air to prove it. If she can prove that she really is innocent of the murder, she'll be set free. If she can't prove her innocence, she'll die. The biggest problem is that she's locked in this room and therefore unable to investigate. She's offered the chance to be linked via live video feed to anyone she chooses. She chooses Ezra. With only five days to prove the woman's innocence or watch her perish, the team jumps into action.

Meanwhile, it's Christmas on Shipwreck Island and everyone in Syd's life has gone just a bit Christmas Crazy. Aunt Charley is baking up a storm, Emily is knee deep in preparations for the annual Christmas by the Sea event, Estelle and Esther have parts in the school play, and Logan is helping Ryder with the annual boat parade.

In book 6 in the series, Syd is asked by the FBI to escort the child of a key witness in a murder trial to a safe house after the US Marshall who'd been watching the child was killed. The Marshall who'd been watching the child managed to get off a message before she died letting the FBI know that there was a mole within the organization who'd given up their position, so Syd and the child set off on a journey where no one can be trusted and nowhere really feels safe.

Meanwhile it's Christmas on Shipwreck Island and the entire family is involved in seasonal events and activities.
