Behind the book

Flash fiction and short stories are a welcome change for me from the more arduous (but still loved, mostly) work of plotting and editing full novels. There is something about a nicely rounded 500 words that gives a deep satisfaction. There it is, barely two pages, but a whole story nonetheless. I have a blog post on why novelists should write flash and shorts, which is well read. There are many benefits.

Many of the stories in this collection have earned their way here with awards and/or have been read by professionals on YouTube (and on one occasion, much less professionally, by me). What they have in common are their fairytale, myth-based or fairytale-like themes. There’s a mix of ‘literary’ and more light-hearted stories, to break things up, variety being the spice of life.

Do enjoy them, and when you’ve finished, please leave a review on Amazon and/or Goodreads. The links are at the end of the book.
