Destiny of the Witch brings together all of the storylines of the first 3 books, as Amber and those close to her, Bastion, Oscar, Benji and Frogmatch work to bring down the Black Coven.
Destiny of the Witch opens with Amber hopeful she has crafted a potion to heal her Mum’s ailing mind.
Book 4 covers multiple story arcs, with Amber visiting the Circus, trying to save her Mum’s familiar, taking on her new role as the Crone and all that entails. As a part of this, she continues to unravel aspects of the prophecy she learned, gaining new understanding of different passages, and realising that she has misinterpreted lines in parts she thought she already understood.
Amber faces the prophecy head on in this fourth book in the series, determined that it won’t decide her fate for her, and she will decide her own Destiny. However, she also knows that with her Father being the head of the Black Coven, she is going to have to come head-to-head with him eventually. But in the meantime, she has to try and save her Mother, her familiar, save Meredith and Ria who she left at the circus and have come under attack, find a new Coven Mother for her own Coven, find out who her Father ACTUALLY is, and discover not only how many Evil Witches there are, but WHO they are? All in a day’s work for Amber DeLea, especially when she has not only Bastion at her side, but her trustworthy friends!
Throughout this book, (and this series), Amber continues to realise the depth of her feelings for Bastion as well. Their relationship grows stronger through every trial they have to face together and learning of Bastion’s true bond with her, has only made their connection deeper.
This series has been somewhat darker than the rest of the ‘Other’ series, with Amber’s character facing the Black Coven and Evil Witches. However, Harris has continued to keep a strong streak of levity throughout the series with her trademark sense of humour in her characters (Amber is wickedly sarcastic, and the Golems are just hilarious), and highly amusing things such as the mugs that appear constantly in every book.
The character work continues to be exceptional and one of the true highlights of this series (not just the Other Witch, but the Other series as a whole). Amber’s character is brilliant, as the powerful Coven Mother, who has faced numerous challenges in her life, but risen to the peak of her profession at Runes and Potions, as well as being a highly respected Coven Mother and Witch. When elevated to the position of ‘Crone’, one of the most respected positions a Witch can hold, no one argues this. Bastion continues to be the terrifying Griffin, the deadliest assassin on Earth, and yet, we see the other side to him with Amber, this gentle, loving, caring person. It is a fascinating contrast from the character we have come to know throughout the other books in the series.
There are so many other wonderful characters in this book as well, Benji and David are fantastic as the two childlike Golems, with the power to crush a tank. Their innocence about the world is beautiful, and at times brings both a sense of wonder and hilarity to the story. Frogmatch on the other hand, is just chaos unleashed, and is nothing but entertaining!
Destiny of the Witch continues not only the Other Witch series, but the Epic Other series, in what is a stunning conclusion to this particular set of books. Harris seems to be only getting better with every book, as her Characters gain more depth, the world she is creating (the Other Realm that sits alongside the Common Realm), grows in more detail, and the stories are compelling, intriguing, and wonderfully multifaceted.
If you love a good Urban Fantasy tale, this is an absolute must read. Destiny of the Witch is not to be missed, and if you haven’t read ‘The Other Witch Series’ – the what are you waiting for?

Amber DeLea is definitely one of the most powerful and feared witches in all of the “Other” side of Europe. She’s beautiful, dangerous, intelligent, and, thank the goddess, not alone anymore. Amber DeLea is definitely one of the most powerful and feared witches in all of the “Other” side of Europe. She’s beautiful, dangerous, intelligent, and, thank the goddess, not alone anymore. Does she need other people? Yes, but that doesn’t take away from her accolades. She’s a self-made Coven Mother, one of the greatest rune-casters the Other has seen in generations, a potion MASTER, and the witch everyone calls when they NEED it done right the first time.

The Black Coven is getting feisty and making moves to take the main stage of the world and grab all the power they possibly can. Those near and dear to Amber are in danger, and some of them dead. It’s now that she’ll need a little help from her friends… She’ll get by with a little help from her friends. Bastion’s a familiar face that’s always got her back; Mum’s got a dependable guardian in her delirium, Oscar’s the father she always wanted and thankfully had when he came into her life, and Benjy the Golem is always in Am-Bam’s corner!

Of course they’re finding that Black Coven witches are popping up in coven after coven across England. Runes and ruin! And did I mention one doozy of a prophecy about Amber herself… Am-Bam’s coming up in the world!

Brilliant, well-written, engaging, and fun, this fourth and final novel of “The Other Witch” saga brings to a close something fans of “The Other Realm” novels have been loving always, an Amber Delea standalone series in gorgeous audio! Beautifully narrated by the talented Alyse Gibbs, engaging, and something that simply cannot be put down/put on pause, this book is a must-listen for any urbanfantasy reader! Enjoy!
