The Jane Austen Project
Kathleen A. Flynn
This premise of this book, time-travelling academics, reminded me of Connie Willis, but with a happier ending. I enjoyed the future to past plot and the love story element for the two time travelers.
Enjoyable but tidy novel regarding the fictitious beginning of a Jane Austen historical society. Well written and entertaining. Everyone gets a happy ending and the reader gets to learn about Jane Austen's time in the village of Chawton.
I really liked this book. Both stories, that of the main character and the story she is chasing down, are really engaging. Plus I thoroughly love the setting and that there are HEAs to go around. This book is marketed as Christian, but I didn't find those elements to preachy.
This book was engaging. The characters and setting were relatable and worth getting to know. The "mystery" part of the story was predictable, but the resolution was not too tidy so as to be realistic rather than idealistic.
There are a few times this book made me want to cry in the best, "you see me," way. The author poignantly represents the inner life of a strong female character who has faced body negativity all her life. I am not interested in fashion, Instagram or Bachelorlanida, but I related to the main character Bea and loved reading about her journey. The themes of self-love and chosen family really resonated with me.
I liked this book. It was an easy read. The resolution was a little too tidy, but the characters and setting were likable.
This is a thick book, but it truly is unputdownable. When the main character starts telling his story you just want to soak it everything he says.
This book stayed with me, in the best possible way, for months after reading it. I read it again in order to share it with my book club.
