It’s Christmas time and Honey Springs is going all out with their annual Christmas in the Park. As they light up the Christmas tree they quickly realize something is wrong. There is a pair of legs sticking out from under the tree. The legs belong to one of Roxy’s friends. Was this an accident or did someone commit murder? Roxy can’t help but try to find out who murdered her friend. She soon her friend has led a life of secrets? Can Roxy solve the murder without ruining her first Christmas in Honey Springs?

I love this series, once again Mrs. Kappes does not disappoint. She has created realistic characters and a lovely town I would enjoy visiting. I love the relationships that the Roxy has formed in the short time she has lived in Honey Springs. I also enjoy the partnership Rozy has with the local animal shelter and her coffee shop to help the animals find their forever home.

I listened to the audiobook the second time around. The narrator is fabulous with the voices. Listening to this book was like listening to a play. She is made listening to the book a great time.

This is a quick fun read. Great holiday read mystery lovers. Recipes included. I would recommend this book, it can be read in the series or as a stand-alone mystery.

I was provided with an ARC of this book with the hopes I would review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Violet is helping her mama, Millie Kay, set up for the Friendsgiving celebration Millie Kay is hosting at the Leisure Center. When Millie Kay stumbles cover a body, Violet jumps into her investigation. The deeper she investigates the more she finds out about the past of Holiday Junction.

This is such a fun series. Who wouldn’t want it live or at least visit Holiday Junction and attend all the holiday celebrations. The characters are just as fun and entertaining as the setting. I am really enjoying reading and getting to know the new characters in the art district. The mystery is full of twists as you along with Violet uncover secrets and clues to solve the murder or possibly murders. I am really enjoying reading and getting to know the new characters in the art district.

Here comes the bride or does she? Mae isn’t having cold feet but it seems nothing is going smoothly and the wedding is just a few days away. While Mae is trying to finish up all the wedding prep Hank is still working on his case of the missing teenager. Will the wedding actually happen? Can Hank solve his case before the wedding?

Oh were to start, I mean we are visiting Normal, KY where nothing is normal not even Mae and Hank’s wedding. Mae is so stressed and nothing seems to be going right for her. Most of us can relate those feelings maybe not about a wedding but life. The laundry club ladies are there for Mae and help her every step of the way. This is a great group of friends. The wedding is a large portion of the book but this would be a Camper and Criminals book without Mae getting involved in a police investigation. The mystery is well plotted with plenty of surprises and twists.

Adara’s dream is becoming a Warder agent. Her final test is to covertly follow the royal Cruesean coach. While she struggles to extricate herself from a thicket of thorns, the coach stops. She hears the ringing of steel on steel and looks to see Geren fighting with the Count’s personal guard. Back in Eridan, the panicked appearance of Geren’s spirit sign in the cavern below the Knife & Cat tavern, alarms the leaders of the Warders. News from their contacts in the local thieves’ guild convinces them to send Draham and Toran on a desperate mission.

The characters are interesting. The storyline is entertaining. This is a great book for fans of YA fantasy.

The narrator, Michelle Babb, is wonderful at bringing the story off the page. She is great at bringing the unique and goofy characters to life. She really captures each character’s voice.

It’s Mother’s Day and Violet can not make a trip back to Normal, KY to see her Mamma, Millie Kay. So Mamma came to Holiday Junction to visit Violet. So when Millie Kay stumbles over a dead body and becomes a murder suspect, Violet dives head first into the police investigation.

This is the second book in a fun new series by author Tonya Kappes. The town of Holiday Junction is a unique small town that celebrates all holidays with grand celebrations. This makes for an entertaining little vacation (read). Violet's mother, Millie Kay, is a great example of a Southern Mamma. She is full of charm and sass. The mystery moves at a great pace and is full of surprises. I recommend this book to cozy mystery fans.

I listened to the audiobook. The narrator does a great job of embodying the characters especially Violet and Millie Kay. She captures the the chemistry of the mother and daughter relationship though her vocal interpretation of Mrs. Kappes written word. Her narrator nicely complements the tone of Mrs Kappes’s writing.

Shandra grandmother came to her in a dream telling her to find two children. When she woke up she told her husband Ryan about the dream. She wants him find the children. When he find a murder victim he realizes that the man’s children were missing. They find the children, and have to take them into protective custody.

This is one of my favorites in the series. Shandra and Ryan are a great together as a couple and as investigators. Shandra is smart and intuitive while Ryan is a skillful investigator. He also trusts Shandra and her dreams. The mystery is well-crafted with plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader in suspense.

I listened to the audiobook of this book. The narrator is wonderful at bringing the story to life. She is great at capturing Shandra’s personality.

Our main character Roxy is a very busy lady but she will always find time to help out those she cares about--human or animal. I love all the characters with their quirky southern personalities but other than the animals, Roxy is my favorite character. I love her passion for her family, love for animals, and desire to solve mysteries. In the first book we see Roxy’s new relationship with Patrick start to move pretty quickly. In Mocha and Murder, Roxy wants to slow things down and really get reacquainted with one another. I am so glad author Tonya Kappes decided slow things down, by doing this she makes Roxy more realistic and level headed. She is smart and is not going to be controlled only by her heart. She will also listen to her brain and make decisions that are going to better for her in the long run.
It’s time for the annual Neewollah festival and this year the town historian, Eleanor is hosting a ghost tour in a old mansion with a spooky past. When the history of the home seems to be repeating itself with a murdered victim, Roxy is there to help clear Eleanor’s name.

This book contains some of my favorite things…Halloween stories, a cozy mystery, coffee , fur babies and of course small town southern charm. Roxy and friends are always fun to visit with, they have great chemistry. Roxy and Patrick have a great relationship. One of my favorite parts in the book was when Pepper discovered Patrick’s pumpkin he carved for a contest. Pepper is always adorable but the description of him growling at a Jack-o-lantern was so cute. The mystery is as always well crafted with plenty of twists. I was surprised at whodunit.

Original review: Having read other books by the fabulous author Tonya Kappes when this book was chosen as one of my book club books I had to give this series a try. I was not disappointed. The characters are unique, and quirky, and have strong fun personalities. This is of couch humor with just the right amount of magic in the book. I recommend this book to paranormal cozy fans.

UPDATED Review:

This was my 2nd reading experience with this book. This time I listened to the audio version of the book. Narrator Karen Savage is the perfect voice for our protagonist June Heal. She really captures June's voice. She brings out the shock that June is feeling for learning all the secrets that her mother was keeping from her. She also does a fabulous job with the quirky personalities of all the citizens of Whispering Falls.

Re-reading (listening) to A Charming Crime allowed me to pick up small details that I may have missed the first time or forgotten over time. I love revisiting Whispering Falls and being reintroduced to all shops and June's neighbors.

All thoughts and opinions are my own; in no way has anyone influenced my opinion.
You'll love Scene of the Grind if you like small southern towns, animal rescues, coffee shops, and cozy mysteries. Scene of the Grind is the first book in A Killer Coffee Mystery Series by Tonya Kappes. The book also contains recipes for both humans and canines.

Roxanne “Roxie” Davis moves to the town of Honey Springs, Kentucky after a bitter divorce. She wants a fresh start so she leaves behind her law practice and old life to move to the town where she spent her childhood summers to be near beloved her Aunt Maxi. Roxi with Aunt Maxi’s help opens a coffee shop called the Bean Hive on Honey Springs’ newly renovated boardwalk. Shortly after Roxie opens a neighboring shop owner is killed and Roxie finds the body. Upon finding out her Aunt Maxi is the prime suspect, Roxie sets out to prove her aunt’s innocence and the real killer. Roxie has help from her newly adopted schnauzer, Pepper, a sweet rescue poodle, Sassy, and her childhood boyfriend whom she obviously still has feelings for, Patrick.

I loved this book and would definitely recommend it. I love the small southern town setting, the adorable rescue animals, and the quirky lovable characters. The touch of romance really added to the story without overwhelming the plot. Kappes includes enough twists and turns to keep you guessing whodunit.

UPDATE:
This was my second time reading this book. This time I listened to the audiobook. The Narrator Madeline Mrozek does a fabulous job bringing Roxy and her friends to life. She is great at capturing the Southern charm of the characters and their quirky personalities.

Sheriff Kenni has more than just a dead body to deal with, she has her plate full both personally and professionally . Finn was about to propose when interrupted by a scream for help. This was just Kenni screaming in her head on what to do. If she agrees to marry Finn she may never see her grandpa’s ghost again. The scream came from a dog walker who stumbled upon a dead man. While trying identify the John Doe and solve his murder, she is dealing with her grandpa’s ghost, and the upcoming election season.

I like Kenni. She is a strong southern female, and I don’t mean because she’s a sheriff, because she went against what her southern mama wanted her to be professionally. I think sometimes she doubts herself and relies on her grandpa’s help. This reliance then is holding her back from really being all in with Finn. I like how this book addresses these issues. As for the mystery. Boy oh boy! To say I was surprised by who the killer was is to say the least. I truly never saw that one coming.

I recommend this to fans of cozy mysteries and small-town intrigue. All thoughts and opinions are my own, and I have not been influenced by anyone.
Toran, half elven and half barbarian, was exiled from the elven forest because of his barbarian heritage. He finds work in a rundown tavern in the thieves' quarter. With his inherited skills and senses, Toran is able to foil an attempt on the princess’s life which earns him an invitation to join the secret protectors group, known as the Wanders.

This was an entertaining book. The characters are interesting and unique. The author, Armen Pogharian, has crafted an interesting world where even a half barbarian can find his place in the world and make friends.

I listened to the audiobook. The narrator Michelle Babb does a wonderful job bringing the story to life. Her tone of voice gives you a great listening experience, she is excellent at bringing out each character’s personality.
