Synopsis
Raylie McPherson is desperate to get out of the house that holds so many bad memories, so she jumps at the chance to apply for the new Field Chief position opening up in the cruelty department of her Louisville animal shelter. So when the report of two downed horses comes in-- from renowned Starstruck Stables, nonetheless-- Raylie assumes she can make a quick arrest of that handsome cowboy and secure that new promotion, despite facing her horror from the last time she rode. But the suspect is anguished, grieving, and too rich to need the money. Cowboy tycoon Ashton Lyre is devastated over the loss of his two favorite horses-- a money maker and a brat. So he's surprised that the pretty Peace Officer accuses him of the foul deed-- for money, no less. And this woman working his case fears his horses, which intrigues him, for she's obviously ridden before. However, he knows he must be cautious, since he just learned his sulky-racing enterprise was based on income his aunt stole from a casino. Should the pretty cop learn of his fraudulent start, he fears everything he owns could be forfeited, and every case that dips into his past dredges up these fears. As the sexual tension between them builds, both must battle their inner demons if they are to be free of the past.
