An absent creator. Magical creatures in hiding. Guardians of the creatures stripped of their powers. Magic contained in seven stones, and hidden so no one could ever abuse it again—all because of a fallen sorcerer's lust for power.
That's how it's been for centuries. Magic is now the stuff of fairytales, and much of the modern world has no clue what once roamed wild and free, not realizing that many of the stories are based in truth.
Though the descendants of Guardians have no magic, they can still interact with the creatures they were sworn to protect, preserving the land where creatures reside. Sisters Amelia and Emily Davidson are two such descendants, running a bed and breakfast on property inherited from their grandfather in coastal Maine. When a development company comes knocking, they must make sure their corner of the world—and the magical creatures who live there—isn't swallowed up. Only there's something off about Jack Garridan, the man sent to make them sell—and something even stranger about his boss, Adrien Dunstan.
And even more bizarrely, the magical creatures have been changing some of their habits and patterns over the past few decades...as if something is shifting in the world.
