Schoolmaster Ichabod Crane has moved into the town and set up class for the children of the surrounding countryside. Soon he meets and falls utterly in love with the beautiful Katrina Van Tassel, daughter of the wealthiest man in the area. Competition for his beloved's heart is pretty stiff. It also has big fists and goes by the name of Brom Bones. As the struggle for Katrina's heart is kindled, Ichabod must also come to terms with the most famous of ghosts in Sleepy Hollow, the Headless Horseman.
This story is an adaptation of the 1820 original by Washington Irving. While trying to remain true to the style and flow of the original, the text has been edited and rewritten for the 21st-century listener by award-winning author Basil Sands, who also performed the narration.
