Synopsis
Even the Grinch had a dog.
But when a stray cat comes calling at Christmas, Cora says no.
Cora Farnsworth's life is simple and fairly structured, and that's how she likes it. When an elderly woman wanders through her yard, in the dead of winter, searching for a lost cat, Cora is concerned. The woman, who seems lost and confused, isn't dressed warmly enough for the weather.
The missing cat shows up on Cora's doorstep later in the day, and she examines the tag on the cat's collar, searching for an address. Not at all willing to have a stray pet disrupt her orderly existence, Cora finds the address and immediately puts the cat in her car and drives him home.
What she finds when she gets there is chilling and plunges her headfirst into investigating a murder. Will she find out what happened to the cat's owner? Or will trouble find her first?
