Synopsis

From Book 1:

When an eminent historian is found dead, all the evidence points to his son, Stephen. With five other people in the house at the time, the police soon reveal that Stephen's father was involved in a hunt for a priceless relic during World War II. As Stephen's trial unfolds, Inspector Trave decides he must find out what really happened in 1944. What artefact could be so valuable it would be worth killing for?
