Synopsis

Deceiving the vampire that saved her could get her killed, but it's a risk she's willing to take.

When tragedy strikes, Rae makes a terrible choice and struggles with the aftermath. In the wilderness of the Tongass rainforest, she finds herself hunted by creatures of hell, monsters she never dreamed could be real.

A hidden world, an ancient race, and a secret she discovers by accident give a new meaning to her life but only if she can escape and return to civilization. If she is to survive, Rae must comply with Ari, her reluctant hero, and allow him to wipe away any memory of this realm.

Knowledge is power, but is it worth dying for?

This book made me change my mind. About young, unknowing main characters. Rae even managed to make me like her naivete. Of course that is thanks to how well she is written.

Thrown into a world that should have broken her, Rae instead grabs hold of a tiny sliver of hope this world offers her and draws strength from it. Her not knowing anything about the new world is then used to introduce it to the reader in a way that drives the story along and getting you hooked on more. And if you're a little like me you even get those "Oooohhhh... I knew that!" moments, that make you feel...

Her not knowing anything about the new world is then used to introduce it to the reader in a way that drives the story along and getting you hooked on more. And if you're a little like me you even get those "Oooohhhh... I knew that!" moments, that make you feel good about yourself without making the character that didn't know look dumb.

The only thing I didn't like was the end, but that's the one gripe I have with all good books, they all end to soon. Fortunately this is only the first book in a series and I can read on.
