I loved Meredith, as the medical examiner her character had such depth, she was smart, independent, and totally kick ass at her job.
Jay was a uniformed cop and just recently promoted to detective. He never had aspirations to become a detective but I think his secret admiration of Meredith helped convince him that that was the direction his career needed to take.

Jay was a uniformed cop and just recently promoted to detective. He never had aspirations to become a detective but I think his secret admiration of Meredith helped convince him that that was the direction his career needed to take.
These two characters come from totally different backgrounds but somehow they are just explosive together. Jay had a vulnerability to him that I found very endearing.
“Growing up, love was never part of the equation. Duty, loyalty, pride, those were all words I was familiar with from a very young age. Love was simply not in the family vocabulary”.
There were so many different twists and turns, multiple crimes to be solved and as always Freya kept me guessing till the very end.
This is a must read!
