Bullied and mourning the loss of his father, twelve-year-old Benjamin Weiss is given an assignment in Social Studies to write a report on an issue important to his community. He chooses "the missing children." For sixty-five years, children have disappeared from his hometown one by one without a clue. The town is desperate for answers. Ben and his two best friends, Grady and Miriam, soon discover an old, little-known book of prophecies. They set about deciphering the cryptic verses, and an old rabbi promises to help but says he will only do so after Ben's upcoming bar mitzvah. The three friends soon discover that the story of the missing children began long ago, during the Holocaust, and is but one step toward the resurrection of one of the world's greatest evils. And only he and his friends can stop it.
