Synopsis

Five early novels of Agatha Christie as well as a short story collection of famed detective Hercule Poirot all in one edition along with their original book covers:
  • The Mysterious Affair At Styles (1920) was written in the middle of the First World War, in 1916, and was Christie's first published novel. It introduced Hercule Poirot, Inspector (later, Chief Inspector) Japp, and Arthur Hastings. The character of Hercule Poirot was inspired by her experience working as a nurse, ministering to Belgian soldiers during the First World War, and by Belgian refugees who were living in Torquay.
  • The Secret Adversary (1922) is Christie's second published detective fiction novel, and it introduces the characters of Tommy and Tuppence who feature in three other Christie novels and one collection of short stories; the five Tommy and Tuppence books span Agatha Christie's writing career.
  • The Murder on the Links was first published in the US in 1923. In its review of the novel, The Times Literary Supplement compared the methods of detection of Poirot to Sherlock Holmes and concluded favorably that the book "provides the reader with an enthralling mystery of an unusual kind."
  • The Man in the Brown Suit (1924) follows the adventures of Anne Beddingfeld who witnesses a man killed in a subway station and the man whose appearance frightened him, as she becomes involved in a world of diamond thieves, murderers, and political intrigue in this tale set in South Africa.
  • Poirot Investigates (1924) is a short story collection of eleven stories (U.K. edition) of famed detective Hercule Poirot including "The Adventure of the Western Star," "The Tragedy at Marsdon Manor," "The Adventure of the Cheap Flat," "The Mystery of the Hunter's Lodge," "The Million Dollar Bond Robbery," "The Adventure of the Egyptian Tomb," "The Jewel Robbery at the Grand Metropolitan," "The Kidnapped Prime Minister," "The Disappearance of Mr Davenheim," "The Adventure of the Italian Nobleman," and "The Case of the Missing Will"
  • The Secret of Chimneys (1925) At the request of George Lomax, Lord Caterham reluctantly agrees to host a weekend party at his home, Chimneys. A murder occurs in the house, beginning a week of fast-paced events with police among the guests.
