An erotic novella with m/m, paranormal, fantasy and romance themes. When Caden first meets his office's new secretary, he can't stop himself from feeling immensely attracted to him. Caden doesn't have the whole story when it comes to the young man, though - Persius is a fairy guardian, and he has been sent to Earth to save Caden's life. But Persius has strong feelings for Caden, which have developed over the many months he's spent watching over this man he certainly shouldn't be sleeping with. Soon, Persius isn't the only one who has become emotionally involved. But can he manage to save Caden when the moment comes? And can he handle what will happen if he succeeds? Because if he saves Caden, as he is supposed to, it's back to his own world, never to see the man he loves - ever again.

‘We have a new secretary as of ten minutes ago,’ Tina said to Caden as she leant against his desk. It had been a bad day so far, with two of his clients telling him they were using again. His third appointment, Bart, hadn’t even showed, which was certainly another worry to heap on to Caden’s already very tall pile of concerns.
‘I hope they’ll be an improvement over the last one.’ Caden looked up from the open file on his desk. Tina’s entry into his office had been a more than welcome break from the file, which held all Caden’s notes on the absent Bart. ‘You aren’t just in here to tell me that, though, are you?’
‘Smart man!’ Tina grinned at him.
Great, Caden thought, what did she want him to do now?
‘You think you could give him a tour?’
‘Why?’
‘Oh, no reason. He’s just super-hot is all. And he seems to swing your way.’ Tina could get away with saying such things, as she most definitely did not swing his way, and had the girlfriend to prove it.
‘I’m swamped, though,’ Caden said, even though he wasn’t, at least at the moment. Even if the idea of giving a “super-hot” new secretary a tour of their office happened to appeal to him quite a bit. ‘Can’t you do it?’
‘No can do, sweet cheeks. I have three more appointments today and piles of paperwork to boot. Besides, don’t you want to see if I’m right?’
‘If you insist,’ Caden said, making sure to sigh theatrically as he closed the file and got up from his desk. ‘The things you talk me into.’
‘Trust me, you’ll thank me as soon as you lay eyes on him.’
And what did he know, Tina was right. The young man standing next to the front desk was gorgeous. He had shiny, black hair pulled back into a lush ponytail, a tall and lanky figure Caden’s favourite and a lovely, admittedly sexy smile playing across his lips. As Caden approached where he was standing, the man’s glowing smile was suddenly turned on Caden, and Caden found himself almost getting weak in the knees. Oh lord, what on earth had gotten into him? It had only been, what, five months since he’d gotten laid? No, a little over five months, Caden realised, as he stifled a sigh. It had been over five months, which was far, far too long. And yes, he would be working with this man, and the man appeared to be a little on the young side, but with looks like that, who the hell cared?
‘Persius, is it?’ Caden reached out his hand.
‘Yep.’ Persius took Caden’s hand in his own, and Caden couldn’t help noticing how soft the young man’s skin was. He found he was a little disappointed when their hands separated, a thought which he tried to push out of his head as quickly as it had entered.
After a relatively quick tour of their office, which was so small that a quick tour was all it took, Caden left Persius at the front desk. He found he had a strong temptation to do something he’d avoided doing at work up until that point, something which he knew was highly inappropriate. So he raced home on his lunch break and took care of himself there, getting off not once, but twice. Yes, that was how hot this young man was. It took not one, but two orgasms to get his head – and body – empty of his strong and quite sudden desire for Persius. Caden chastised himself on the drive back to work, having to eat as he drove because of the seemingly necessary side trip he’d taken to his apartment. He managed to get his head mostly cleared of Persius by the time he settled back behind his desk, but a few thoughts of the hot secretary were still sprinkled in with those he was supposed to be thinking – the thoughts he was paid to think. This young man had some kind of intense, sexual pull on him – Caden joked to himself that it must have involved some kind of magic, because it seemed as if he’d never been this attracted to someone in his whole life.
So at the end of the day, when Persius suggested they go out for a few beers, Caden realised that he just didn’t have the strength to turn him down. But it would just be a few beers, nothing more, Caden told himself as he got ready to leave. Yes, just a few beers. With this drop-dead sexy man. Right.
Since Persius didn’t have a car, Caden drove them to his favourite bar, fighting against his urge to check out his passenger instead of watching the road. Once they entered the bar, they sat down in a booth, and Persius surprised him by sitting on the same side of it as Caden. They each ordered a pint from the waitress and then both men fell silent. It wasn’t necessarily an uncomfortable silence, Caden realised with a relieved smile, but one like old friends or long-time partners might share. It was nice.
Then the silence was broken by Persius. ‘I love your hair.’
‘Really?’ Caden brought his hand up to his chin-length locks, trying not to think about how bad a hair day he was certain he. . .
