Thomas King Follow
OntarioThomas King (born 1943) is an award-winning Canadian-American author of Cherokee and Greek descent, best known for his work exploring Indigenous identity, history, and politics through fiction, nonfiction, and radio.
A celebrated storyteller, King has written acclaimed novels such as Green Grass, Running Water and the DreadfulWater mystery series under the name Hartley GoodWeather. His nonfiction work The Inconvenient Indian became a landmark text on Indigenous issues in North America.
King's sharp wit, deep compassion, and insightful commentary have made him one of the most influential Indigenous writers of his generation.
In 2021, he was named a Companion of the Order of Canada, one of the country’s highest honors.
