Teresa Richards Follow

Teresa Richards writes speculative and contemporary YA fiction, and loves anything that can be given a unique twist. She grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, earned a degree in Speech Pathology from BYU, then spent the next fourteen years as a stay-home mom to her five kids while living in the greater New York City area. Life has thrown her some surprising twists, and now she and her family are happily settled in Kentucky, and she works part time as an orthodontic assistant. She divides her time between her own teens, the teens she puts braces on, and her fictional teens. The jury is still out on which is the most angsty group.
Teresa’s novels have received Editors Pick, Best Book, and Top Pick distinctions from Evernight Teen, LASR, and Night Owl Reviews. Her newest novel, Flippin' Skaters, won a first chapter contest award at the SCBWI Mid-south fall conference prior to publication. Teresa is a member of SCBWI and the Storymakers Guild, and served as a Query Kombat judge for a number of years. She's been a panelist at both SOKY and NKYA bookfests, has taught writing workshops to elementary through high school students, and loves connecting with young readers.
