This was the perfect weekend read to really prepare me for family gatherings of the holiday season. The writing was so vivid and humorous that I felt as it I was part of the story and the characters were so real I felt like I was part of the family. If you like stories with the perfect blend of romance, family drama, and the curious interaction of family relations all coming together, than this is a book you don't want to miss. Susan Mallory is a new to me author, but I am happy that she has back catalogue so that I can read more by her soon.
Thank you NetGalley, Harlequin Trade Publishing and Canary Street Press for the copy of this book that I read. All opinions here are my own.

Julie is wanting a quite Christmas with her younger boyfriend Heath and it looks like she is going to get it. Then her son and daughter, Nick & Dana, want one more Christmas at the family cabin in honor of their dad who passed away earlier in the year.
So, a family Christmas it is. Nick & Blair, his wife, Blair's mom Gwen ( wasn't a big fan of her), Paul, Blair's uncle, Dana, and Huxley. But wait there's more! Heath ends up with his kids for Christmas, so they are coming as well. Then his ex wife's plans fall through so here comes Tiffany. Axel, Dana's on and off beau gets shot doing a job, so Huxley brings him!
For a lady that wanted a quiet holiday to end up with a dozen people, Julie seems to take it all in stride. This was a good book about family and what makes a family.
I really enjoyed it and thanks to Susan Mallery for the advanced copy.

This was a good fast read. I almost read it in one day! Laurel and Paris have been friends since childhood. They have been there for each other through divorces, both and childbirth, Laurel. Even deadbeat ex's, also Laurel. Cassie is new to the Los Lobos area and is welcomed by Laurel and Paris.
I liked that all 3 women had issues they needed to overcome. Paris had an abusive childhood and it took Jonah walking out on their marriage and a few truths from Laurel for her to seek therapy. I liked that the book talked about how she out in time and effort to overcome her past. I do find it a bit strange that Laurel knew how much the therapy helped her friend, and didn't even consider it for her daughters after the divorce. Especially after she is made aware of some of the statements her oldest is making about men. I do like the fact that she set out to have a male friend. I liked Colton, Jonah, Danny and Raphael, Marcy and Darcy. This was a good book and I highly recommend it .

I really enjoyed this. I remember Heather from Sisters by Choice and was very happy to get her story. I will say, with all the issues Heather had with Amber, who I can't stand!, she would have been in therapy. It might have helped her figure things out . I liked that Elliot and Sophie were in the book as well. I liked her friends Daphne and Tori alot. I felt for Tori in regards to the apartment flooding. no floods for me, but a massive hail storm! so scary. I think of the three brothers, Grant was my favorite. This was a good book about relationships and the ups and downs. Heather finding her birth father, but can't commit to a real relationship. Daphne being a step-mom and wanting a child also. Tori just wanting a permanent family. This flowed well and I could have read it in one day, if life hadn't got in the way

This story is about family and forgiveness. This was well written and I could relate in some places. I really felt for Finley and Jericho. It seems that everyone is telling them they are supposed to forgive and forget, and in Jericho's case forgiveness wasn't even asked for! Jericho sounds yummy by the way! Finley took in her sister's daughter and raised her when Sloane couldn't. Sloane then made a mess of Finley's life and thought a "I'm sorry" should mean that all is forgiven. I didn't like Sloane much at all. I felt Molly, their mom was in denial. I did appreciate the ending, Finley learned to set boundaries and stick to them. This was really good.

I really enjoy Susan Mallery's books, especially the stand alone ones like this one. This is the story of 3 women brought together by a business venture and how they became friends, then family. Mikki is divorced and manages to stay friends with her ex. It's not a problem until she meets someone new and has to re think her relationship with her ex. I liked Mikki's journey and knowing most ex's can not be civil to each other, forget about helping re decorate! Ashley has been dating/living with Seth for a while, when she discovers he does not believe in marriage. He has nothing against a long term relationship, house, kids, but no to marriage. Personally I thought Seth was a jerk. Ashley also had to work through what she really wanted and could she settle for less? Bree came across as the strongest, but she actually was the most damaged. Her "parents" are the reason some people should not have children. I liked Bree but wonder why it took so long for her to realize she needed help? I liked this book and liked the relationships between the women and the ones surrounding them. What I didn't like was how quickly the book ended. If ever there was a need for a follow up chapter , this was it! Thanks to the author for the advanced copy for my own opinion

Susan Mallery has done it again. This is a really good book. Robyn is a divorced mom of 2, Harlow 22 and Austin 18, and she is realizing she needs to make some changes. She heads to visit her great-aunt Lillian in California. I LOVED Lillian. She is a person I would have loved to have been related too. I really liked Austin from the start, Harlow, not so much. I agree that we all should have a Mason in our lives. I really enjoyed this and am thankful to the author, Susan Mallery, for an advanced copy to read. My opinions are my own. Read this, you will be glad you did
