I adored this story.

It is a multi-POV that jumps back and forth in time as a present day woman muddles through her ruined marriage stumbling on a mystery of the past women's secret apothecary.

The two stories are woven together so well that they climax together, and lean in to each other lesson / message wise. I loved the mystery of the past mixed with the hope for the future. It left me with a feeling adventure and hope for my own future.

Caroline's woes are so relatable, from letting her younger passions fade, to her personal life woes, her character was well written and read like a friend that we all know, not just a person in passing. Her search for the apothecary had me excited with anticipation, and I loved how everything turned out for her.

Nella’s and Eliza’s story had an equally real life feeling, the past felt well researched and placed in the right time with all of the descriptions and the change in voice. I loved the messages of karma woven into how their stories played out. The twists at the end were some that I didn't see coming.

You will love this story if you enjoy books that mix past and present storylines, and/or books that leave you with a desire to take the plunge and chase your goals.

Sarah Penner’s debut novel The Lost Apothecary not only was it one of the most anticipated novels of spring but it’s an an incredibly magical combination of murder mystery adventure and discovery!
There are so many fantastic layers to this novel! What really propelled me deeper into the story, was the strong female characters. There is a bond and relationship between each of them, a sharing of secrets but also of knowledge that pulls you in quickly! Each of the characters inner turmoil was so intriguing to me, and Sarah Penner does such a phenomenal job of giving an individual voice to each of them. With the help of a little blue vial and a bit of poison, she magically weaves their stories together and unearths secrets through some pretty unexpected twists and turns! Duel-timelines are my favorite to read and reading The Lost Apothecary had such a smooth transition between past and present, it was as if you could see the reel playing and overlapping as you were reading. This book was so many things! I so enjoyed reading it and encourage you to grab The Lost Apothecary for your next spring read! It’s on shelves now! Huge thanks to Sarah Penner and Park Row Books for my early signed copy I was so lucky 🍀 to win and will be highly recommending The Lost Apothecary to everyone 💜💙💜💙

I loved reading about Caroline, Nella and Eliza. These are three strong women. I enjoyed how the story went from the past to the present. I loved learning about the many ways that plants can be used to make poisons. This was fascinating. It is sad that so many women felt the need to murder. This story shows how each of these women grows as the time goes on. I always enjoy reading about the late 1700’s. I received a copy of this book from Harlequin fir a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
