I believe this is a first novel and it's a mighty beginning. It has some of issues in terms of excess detail at points, but it's essentially a gripping and unusual police procedural where the characters are strong and the plot is tight. More importantly for me, the emotional involvement is high, which adds significantly to the tension. It improves as it goes along and I think the next by the author will be spot on. Really enjoyed.
