Delaney and her husband Tom receive an exclusive invitation to meet with reclusive artist Byory Bennigan at the Hidden Door Festival. They follow the secret directions to the artist's studio and meet a man coming from meeting Byory. This man is Dr. Adam Pace who just happens to be from the Univ. of Kansas, which is Delaney's alma mater. Meeting Byory and his assistant, Ani, is an experience not to be forgotten. The next day Delaney receives news that Dr. Pace has been found dead at the house he was renting, and it is not reported if it was accident or murder, but right away Delaney's mind is turning. When Det. Winters asks Delaney to contact her friend back at the Univ. for any information on why Dr. Pace was in Scotland, she's all in. What she learns is disturbing and leads to more questions than answers. And it also leads Delaney, Tom and her friends from the bookshop to dig around until they can find the answers to what happened, especially when it is revealed that Dr. Pace was poisoned.

With the help of her new found friends in her new home in a small Alaska town a plan is formed to keep Beth safe and catch the man. But after a body is found, a person dressed as a Bigfoot is seen by multiple people, and more strange things are encountered a new plan has to take place and this one may get Beth and more people killed if it doesn't succeed.

Delaney Nichols is asked by her boss Edwin to go to the estate of Jolie Lannister to examine something that was found by the groundskeeper that could possibly be an ancient artifact. When Delaney and her friend Elias arrive there are three other people at the estate and Jolie is not happy that they are there. Later after the three unwanted guests leave one of them is found dead on the estate grounds. As Delaney tries to discover who killed the man and why she finds more and more secrets and that she is being lied to by many. Lots of pieces to the growing puzzle.

Beth Rivers finally feels at home living in Alaska. With her friend, Tex, she goes on a boat tour to see the glaciers. But they don't make it as the captain receives a notice of a woman in distress on one of the islands. The woman claims she was kidnapped and that the man who took her was killed by a bear. No evidence to support her claim is found. She also claims to be in witness protection. Beth isn't sure what to believe, but when another kidnapping occurs she is determined to find out.
