Neil McCallum, who writes as Dawood Ali McCallum, has been travelling extensively in India for more than 40 years and has researched, written about and lectured on historical aspects of several of the Maratha princely states. He is the author of four previous novels, The Final Charge (2014), The Peacock in the Chicken Run (2009), Taz (2007) and The Lords of Alijah (1997).
