Nalo Hopkinson Follow
Nalo Hopkinson was born in Jamaica and has lived in Guyana, Trinidad, and Canada. The daughter of a poet/playwright and a library technician, she is an award-winning author known for blending Caribbean folklore with speculative fiction. Her honors include the John W. Campbell Award, the World Fantasy Award, and Canada’s Sunburst Award. Her short story collection Skin Folk was named a New York Times Best Book of the Year and featured on its 2002 Summer Reading List. Hopkinson’s novels include The New Moon’s Arms, The Salt Roads, Midnight Robber, and Brown Girl in the Ring. She is a professor of creative writing at the University of California, Riverside, and divides her time between California and Toronto.
