I'm pretty much of a history nerd. I love doing the research for my books. Yes, there were pretty clothes and fantastic houses, but even more exciting are all the people I discover who led strange and wonderful lives, like Jeanne de Clisson, the Lioness of Brittany, who turned pirate to avenge the king's betrayal of her husband. Or Anna Maria Garthwaite, a vicar's daughter, who became one of the foremost fabric designers of the 18th century, and the only female one.
