L.R. Wright Follow
L.R. Wright (1939–2001) was a Canadian author celebrated for her psychologically rich mysteries and character-driven crime fiction. She is best known for her series of novels set on British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast, featuring RCMP staff sergeant Karl Alberg and librarian Cassandra Mitchell. Her debut in that series, The Suspect, made her the first Canadian to win the Edgar Award for Best Novel — a distinction that helped cement her legacy.
Wright’s books are celebrated for their strong sense of place, vivid characters, and intricate moral and psychological depth.
In 2024, her Alberg & Cassandra series was officially adapted for television as Murder in a Small Town — bringing her stories to a new generation of readers and viewers.
