Kristin Hannah is an award-winning and bestselling author of more than 20 novels including the international blockbuster The Nightingale, Winter Garden, Night Road, and Firefly Lane.

Her novel The Nightingale has been published in 43 languages and is currently in movie production at TriStar Pictures, which also optioned her novel, The Great Alone. Her novel Home Front has been optioned for film by 1492 Films (which produced the Oscar-nominated The Help) with Chris Columbus attached to direct.

Kristin is a former-lawyer-turned-writer who lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband. Her novel Firefly Lane became a runaway bestseller in 2009, a touchstone novel that brought women together, and The Nightingale, in 2015 was voted a best book of the year by Amazon, Buzzfeed, iTunes, Library Journal, Paste, The Wall Street Journal and The Week. Additionally, the novel won the coveted Goodreads and People’s Choice Awards. The audiobook of The Nightingale won the Audiobook of the Year Award in the fiction category.

Audiobook: Narrator - Julia Whelan
Ms. Whelan did an amazing job of bringing this story from the pages and straight into my heart. Her narration was such that I failed to recognize her as narrator as she brought each character to life in unique and diverse ways. Her voice coaxed me in and kept me there. Rarely have I experienced a performance such as this.

What an amazing story! This was so much more than I was expecting. I knew this author would keep things authentic, but holy heck, I never realized how it was going to send me on an emotional roller coaster. The scenes written here were so vivid I ached. I felt the agony, the struggle and the complete desolation these characters experienced. And oh my, their strength, not only for themselves but for the women standing next to them. This is a story that will stay with me forever.

A slow burn read, this book will stay with you long after you've turned the last page. It took me a while to get into the storyline, to connect with the characters, but keep going because you won't be disappointed. Kristin Hannah's beautiful way with words is displayed in the finest of forms yet again in "Winter Garden". Her prose and character development are breath-taking in a storyline that will break your heart and keep you up late at night reading chapter after chapter. A unique perspective on the aftermath of the Second World War, the Siege of Leningrad, and how it impacted Russian families. This book dives deep into the life of one woman who left it all behind to start over, only to discover the pain of the past wouldn't be so easily shaken. Highly recommended.
