Writing as Kathy Damp, I get my best story ideas in the middle of adventures, like when I swam in a crater and walked on fire. Growing up exploring Adirondack Mountains villages, hearing different family legacies—joyous and hurtful—nudged me toward writing stories where history collides with hope. When I'm not dreaming up new adventures for my characters, I play pickle ball and try to convince our rescued Border Collie that I know best.
