I admit, I wasn’t sure about this book going in; I tend to prefer women protagonists and this felt like too much of a departure from the rest of the Guild Codex series. I should never have doubted Annette Marie. This was a terrific read!
It’s so rare to find a spin-off series that lives up to its progenitor, let alone surpasses it. Of course, Annette Marie was the author to pull both off.
One of those books that you want to start right back at the beginning again when you’re done—and I did.
Robin got me through the pandemic—is there really any more to say? Annette Marie is brilliant.
There is no one writing better urban fantasy right now than Annette Marie. The only complaint I have is that this is the final entry in one of the best fantasy series I’ve read in years.
King never disappoints. The only downside to this story? It’s too short. He always knows how to leave us wanting more.
