John Marrs Follow
Before becoming a full-time novelist in 2016, John Marrs worked as a freelance journalist for publications including The Guardian, Empire, and The Independent. He began his writing career by self-publishing novels written during his daily train commute, a leap that led to publishing deals with Amazon Publishing for psychological thrillers and Penguin Random House for speculative fiction.
His breakthrough came in 2017 with The One, a self-published novel that went on to sell over a million copies, be translated into 35 languages, and adapted into a No. 1 Netflix series. Since then, Marrs has released a string of international bestsellers, including The Good Samaritan, The Passengers, What Lies Between Us (winner of the International Thriller Writers Award and optioned by MGM), The Marriage Act, and The Stranger in Her House. His books have now sold millions of copies worldwide, earning multiple awards and TV/film adaptations.
Marrs continues to write across both psychological thrillers and speculative fiction, exploring the darker sides of the human mind. His next novel, Dead in the Water, will be released in January 2026.
