I think I’ve loved every Jill Shalvis book I’ve ever read. Which is a lot. But this is absolutely my new all time favorite.
From the first page to the very last, The Backup Plan is an absolute joy to read. I savored every moment and that is rare for me.
Alice, Knox and Lauren are brought back together when they inherit an old B&B. Alice and Lauren used to be BFF’s and Alice had a teen crush on Knox, so their reunion and this story could have been super angsty. … But it isn’t. Instead their stories are tenderly crafted and oftentimes laugh out loud hilarious. There is so much heartwarming charm. I loved every single moment and every single word of this entire book.

Sometimes people do crazy things when they think they only have moments to live. Levi and Jane find this out when they are stranded together on a ski lift in severe weather. Overall, The Family You Make is full of likable characters and heartwarming moments. There is also a secondary romance, small town charm and family shenanigans. Shalvis, as always, writes really well and weaves a balance of emotion and levity deftly. A solid start to a new series.

I found it to have an engaging mix of humor, steam and heartstring tugs. “Siblings” Walker, Maze and Heather return to Wildstone to see their sister Caitlin get married. Added into the rollercoaster ride is Heather’s young daughter, Sammie, Maze’s plus one, Jace, and the fiance, Dillion, his pugs, Roly and Poly and his overbearing mom. Overall, a fun escape!
