UKGemma Amor is a Bram Stoker– and British Fantasy Award–nominated horror author, illustrator, voice actor, and podcaster based in Bristol, UK. Named one of Esquire’s “Writers Shaping Horror’s Next Golden Age,” her work also appears in Ellen Datlow’s Best Horror of the Year, Vol. 15.
A hybrid author publishing both independently and traditionally, Gemma is known for her genre-blending, emotional, and character-driven horror and speculative fiction. Her debut collection, Cruel Works of Nature (2018), was followed by acclaimed titles including Dear Laura, Grief Is a False God, White Pines, Girl on Fire, These Wounds We Make, We Are Wolves, and Six Rooms. Her traditionally published novels include Full Immersion (Angry Robot, 2022), The Once Yellow House, Christmas at Wheeldale Inn, and The Folly (Datura), along with All Who Wander Are Lost, her twelfth book and fifth with Cemetery Gates Media.
Gemma co-created the horror-comedy podcast Calling Darkness (featuring Kate Siegel), and her stories have been featured on The NoSleep Podcast—including a six-part adaptation of Dear Laura—as well as Shadows at the Door, Creepy, The Hidden Frequencies, and The Grey Rooms. She also co-wrote the short film Hidden Mother (2022), which screened at several film festivals, and is developing her first feature-length screenplay.
An illustrator and audiobook narrator, Gemma creates her own cover art and has voiced titles such as Hailey Piper’s The Possession of Natalie Glasgow and her own Full Immersion.
She cheerfully admits to a background in marketing—“irrefutable proof of no soul”—and shares her latest work and musings on her blog.
