Erin Hart is the award-winning author of the Nora Gavin crime series, inspired by Irish history, folklore, archaeology, and music. Before turning to fiction, Erin studied theater directing and worked as a stage manager, editor, copywriter, journalist, and theater critic. Her background also includes co-founding a local Irish Music & Dance Association in Minnesota, where she met her husband, Irish accordionist Paddy O’Brien.
Erin began writing fiction in the 1990s, with work appearing in major publications and on Minnesota Public Radio. After her short story “Waterborne” won the Glimmer Train Short Story Award, she turned to crime fiction. Her debut novel, Haunted Ground, was inspired by the discovery of a preserved head in an Irish bog and launched her critically acclaimed mystery series. The books have been translated into ten languages and recognized with nominations and awards including the Anthony, Agatha, and Minnesota Book Awards.
Erin lives in Minnesota and makes frequent research trips to Ireland, where she explores bogs, castles, and pubs in pursuit of new stories. She is a member of the Authors Guild, MWA, ITW, and Sisters in Crime.
