The Picket family faces danger over the Thanksgiving holiday when a mysterious photo album is left at the library Marybeth works at. It is revealed that the album once belonged to a Nazi official and it is a secret that others are willing to kill to keep hidden. Meanwhile, Nate Romanowski is on the trail of Soledad, the man who in the previous book, Dark Sky, stole Nate’s falcons and threatened his wife and young daughter. Following Soledad and his followers, Nate and new associate Geronimo Jones, travel to a burning Portland, where Soledad is brewing more trouble for a city already being terrorized by ANTIFA and BLM thugs. By the end, Joe and Nate are back with their families in relatively one piece. As always, high-stacks action, intrigue, and vengeance have me continuing the series, but Dark Sky and Shadows Reel just don’t hold as strong of an appeal to me as the earlier books. Nonetheless Shadows Reel an entertaining read.
