Runaway Justice is the third novel in Chad Zunker’s series of David Adams legal thrillers. Attorney David Adams is a classic underdog lawyer, a compassionate man who works on behalf of the underclass on the streets of Austin, Texas. He’s ably assisted by a private investigator named Jess, who also offers her services pro bono, as well as a network of street people who have come to know and trust them. In Runaway Justice, Adams’s client is a twelve-year-old runaway who has fled a string of abusive foster homes and then witnessed a brutal underworld murder. Now he’s on the run, with killers and the FBI in hot pursuit. Zunker’s characters are well developed, the plot is crafted carefully, and the story rockets along to a satisfying conclusion. This is the first book I have read in this series; I’ll definitely be circling back to read the first two.
