Aoife Fitzpatrick Follow
Aoife Fitzpatrick is a native of Dublin, Ireland. Her debut novel, The Red Bird Sings, was awarded the Lucy Cavendish Fiction Prize in 2020. The research for the novel brought her to the forests, rivers, towns - and courthouse - of Greenbrier County, West Virginia.
The winner of the inaugural Books Ireland short-story competition, her work has been recognised by the Séan O'Faoláin Prize, the Elizabeth Jolley Prize and by the Writing.ie Short Story of the Year award. Her short stories have been published in Southword literary journal, in Books Ireland magazine and by independent publisher, Cinnamon Press. Aoife read English Studies at Trinity College, Dublin, and in 2019, graduated the MFA in Creative Writing at University College Dublin, with distinction. In 2020, she was the recipient of a literature bursary from the Arts Council of Ireland in support of her debut.
