"I'm a daydreamer with a big imagination"
BingeBooks: Where and when do you like to write?
Samantha Young: I write in my office and I write in the early mornings and early afternoons. My brain is usually too tired by evening time to string sentences together, lol.
BB: Is there anything - furnishings, art, equipment, etc - you always like to have around you when you write?
SY: Books! I love being surrounded by books and fairy lights as I write. It's cozy.
BB: Who are your influences? What are you reading right now? What book would you recommend for a great winter vacation read?
SY: Oh goodness, I have so many favorite authors and musicians who inspire me. I love K.A. Tucker, Catherine Cowles, Colleen Hoover, Penny Reid, L.H. Cosway, Karen Marie Moning, Sarah J Maas, Kristen Callihan... the list goes on and on.
Musicians such as Lord Huron, Biffy Clyro, Ruelle, Jaymes Young... they're all so inspiring.
Right now, I'm re-reading the Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning. It's probably up there in my top three series ever and I like to re-read it every few years. This would also be the series I'd recommend for a great winter vacation just because you'll become so consumed by it, you won't want to be anywhere but near a cozy fire and a couch.
BB: Have any of your characters ever surprised you? How?
SY: Jo from Down London Road. When I first introduced her character in On Dublin Street I didn't know I was going to write a book about her. When I decided to, she turned out to be one of the strongest, fiercest heroines and I don't think even I expected that of her when we first started our journey together.
BB: Cat or Dog?
SY: Dog
BB: Tea or Coffee?
SY: Coffee but I'll drink both.
BB: Tell us in 1 sentence why readers love Here With Me
SY: It's a steamy, enemies-to-lovers, age gap, romantic suspense set in the atmospheric Scottish Highlands!
BB: Tell us why you love writing - in general, and in your specific genre
SY: I'm a daydreamer with a big imagination and this allows me to let the worlds filling up my mind escape and be of some use lol. I especially love romance because it's pure escapism. Readers know when they pick up a romance that they're guaranteed an HEA even if they're taken through the emotional wringer to get to it. I love providing that kind of escapism.
