This book was a departure from the Linear Tactical series, which is where we first met this story’s main characters. The Zodiac Tactical series is a spin-off of sorts, but while it’s got some of the same characters it’s very different. It was a bit darker and more gritty, and I really liked that it’s entirely its own entity and not like a continuation of LT in a different company.
I loved Wavy and Ian’s story! They had one of the most memorable meet-cutes of all the books I’ve read, and their story continued to be unique and unexpected all the way through! It was definitely a page-turner and I couldn’t ever guess what was going to happen next (which I’m usually pretty good at!). It's got the perfect level of heat, too. One thing - of many - Janie Crouch always gets right is the expert balance of steam and action! Code Name: Aries was emotional, intense, action-packed, and empowering, and I can’t wait to read the rest of the series as it comes out!

Janie Crouch does it again! Blaze is the last book in the Linear Tactical series, which I have loved since the beginning. Unlike the other books in the series, which are written from the dual perspectives of the main characters, Blaze was written from the perspectives of Kendrick Foster and Neo LaBarre, as well as the perspective of Dorian and Ray Lindstrom, the main characters from an earlier LT book, Ghost. I wasn’t sure how I’d like this perspective switch, but it added so much to the story and was a really great way to wrap up not only the series but Dorian and Ray’s story as well!
This book had me hooked from the very first scene. It started out intense but playful and it was a great way to showcase several of my favorite LT characters and draw the reader into the story! Blaze was about on par with the rest of the LT books, angst-wise, and there was just enough interpersonal conflict and angst to keep things spicy without making the reader feel bogged down. The plot was quick-moving and it hopped around a bit between the main story and Ray and Dorian’s side-plot but still was cohesive, and then the two stories resolved into one at the end. I really enjoyed this book, and as with all the other Linear Tactical books I will definitely be rereading it! I’m sad that this series has come to a close, but excited about the next series that is coming out featuring Ian DeRose and Zodiac Tactical!
